Did anyone watch Wife Swap and Super Nanny Last Night?

Why do I watch these shows? Seriously I was so completely frustrated watching Wife Swap ( I know I sound like such a loser...I just have a natural curiosity for these shows). I just don't know where they get these people and I hope that most of the show is scripted because these people are NUTS!!

If you watched it last night then you would know what I am talking about but if not I can fill you in on the crazy stuff that totally bugged me.
Check it out here. It is the Boss/Gusataferro families. The Gusataferro family is from upstate NY and the Boss family is from Indiana. I have to say the Gusataferro family completely made me sick. Beside the fact that all the mother cared about was dressing for the trends and being made up...she really looked like a complete idiot. They completely catered to their spoiled 15 year old daughter, get this, mom does her homework for her every night!!!! The kid can't even speak proper English and at 15...couldn't spell "America". Oh my gosh, do I feel better about my skills as a mom. What really bothered me was the father who was a complete pig and felt that there was nothing wrong with their parenting. Ugh. Ok, done with this show.

Ok, on to Super Nanny...which I love. I just love Jo, she rocks. Anyhow, there were two episodes on last night and the later one I think was the season premiere. Anyhow, this one was totally messed up. They are a family of 7...5 kids ranging from 17 to 3 years. Well, mom and dad went off to work all day and left the 17 and 14 year old daughters to stay at home and take care of their 3 younger brothers. Oh and they are home schooled through some charter on-line classroom. They never have time to study or do anything because they are busy playing the parents and house keepers. It was completely absurd to me and what was more disturbing was the girls are the ones that asked super nanny for help! I am just totally appalled at what parents do to their children today. I swear, these shows make me feel better about myself as a parent.
Ok, enough of my reality fix. When is Housewives of Orange County on??
Are you sensing a sickness here?

I watched both, too. I'm not trying to be ugly but, the pagent girl wasn't even that pretty. The dad WAS disgusting.

I love Jo, too!! The girls in the second episode were heartbreaking. The parents (especially the mom) didn't seem sincere. The mother made me angry.

For some reason I watched Super Nanny as well. I had never watched it before and I guess I now know why.

I could not get over that Pageant Family, for real, doing her homework?! Couldn't finish it because it was going to be such an obviously bad swap.

i never watch wife swap - it reminds me of jerry springer, just plain absurd. but i have watched super nanny and have appreciated some of the tips, but that family with the teenagers just sounds sad. i watched law and order that night....i missed my fix since it was off for a while. i love the new folks they have on it.

I watched all of them too. I usually don't watch those shows for the same reason, they just drive me nuts! I can't believe there are people out there like that. The pagent girl is going to have a huge reality check when she gets out in the real world. And those poor girls on Super Nanny. It was amazing to me that when the one girl fainted, and they got back from the Dr., Jo was the one who told the girl to go get some rest. The Mom was no where to be seen! I just get frustrated watching these shows (yet I watched the whole thing).

Oh that pageant family made me so sick! I couldn't believe how awful that they were. I was really proud of the daughter in "feminist" house. She stuck with her guns and everything that she believed in.

I never made it through Super Nanny (Gossip Girl was on at the same time), but I saw the beginning and it looked awful. That poor girl.

I watched both. I'm lame, too.

I was SO angry at those parents with the teenagers that I could hardly stand to watch it. I was just livid. I've never seen such lazy parents! Especially when the mother came home LATE and then left her girls to deal with THREE THREE THREE preschoolers throwing tantrums at bedtime!

Lunacy!

They are around the clock nannies/housekeepers who are also required to go to school full time.

Hello!

And sweeping the kitchen floor once a day isn't adequate?

My, don't we have high housekeeping standards when other people have to do our cleaning for us.

How do you start a family and then expect your older kids to take care of it.

Sorry to rant, but it made me soooo mad!

And yes, the swap family was nearly as awful. Maybe seeing themselves on tv as they really are will be a wakeup call?
